And so, out of habit, she gave back nothing, no matter what her inner thoughts. Reading about the very beginning of the Mayfair line, and how this being Lasher has been there from the very beginning was fascinating but ultimately frightening. I never felt that any of the women or men of the line could be confused with one another, although it was hard for me to wrap my head around the passing of time with the family. There are so many of them over the course of many years and they are all fantastic. Then we have are four main characters: Rowan, Michael, Aaron, and Lasher seem so real as you read about them. I do have to say that the beginning is a little bit hard to get into, as far as learning about Rowan and Michael separately. Once you get past the section where we learn about Michael getting his powers and everything, things really pick up from there. It took me quite a while to read this book I mean the hardcover is pages but I really enjoyed every moment of it. Well, I enjoyed reading it.

Some of the aspects of the book I disagreed with, and some I outright hated, but that just made it better honestly. She smiled, but it was a brittle, fierce smile. She pulled the long loose hairs out of the hairbrush.

That you would like to know what it is to be a man, and for me to take you as I would a man. The blood rose to her cheeks. She matted up the little bit of blond hair from the brush and dropped it into the ferny garden beside her, where it vanished among the fronds and the dark leaves.
